You can't tell from the picture of the front label, but this wine is only 9% alcohol, and consequently it's sweet—not so sweet that it should be a dessert wine, but sweet enough to surprise you if you were expecting a medium Niersteiner. Nevertheless it went well paired with French Onion soup. And there's no getting around that it's a beautifully made wine, with a smoothness and roundness from the remaining grape must, yet with a pronounced sharp acid bite.
